The focus of Lexus design efficiency is to build a vehicle that is exceptionally lean in its use of raw materials, its fuel, and its impact on the environment, while pushing the boundaries of performance, luxury and quality.
History
1983 - Toyota chairman Eiji Toyoda convened a top-secret meeting of Toyota management, strategists and engineers. There, he asked, “Can we create a luxury car to challenge the very best?” Six years later, the first Lexus arrived in Long Beach , California .
1998 - As the sport utility vehicle revolution blossomed in the 1990s, Lexus went to work on a new kind of SUV. Beginning from a modified car “platform”, engineers created the RX 300, a vehicle that combined the safety and versatility of an SUV with the drivability of a car.
1999 - At the Tokyo Motor Show, Lexus unveiled a new concept vehicle: the Lexus Sport Coupe. The muscular coupe featured fresh lines, bold curves and a dramatic retractable top. At the touch of a button, the coupe's top lifted up and stowed itself in the trunk. Introduced in 2001 as the SC 430, the coupe soon had a months-long waiting list of buyers.
2000 - Lexus continues to set the standard for refinement and quality by introducing the IS- 300 sport sedan and the LS 430 flagship luxury sedan. Both cars mark another emphatic pronouncement of "The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection."
2002 - A completely redesigned ES 300 is introduced. Roomier and more luxurious, the new ES 300 offers greatly enhanced comfort, style and performance.
Club Lexus is inaugurated exclusively for Lexus owners.
2003 - Lexus re-defines the SUV…again. Performance, luxury and safety are raised to a new level with the launch of the 2004 RX 330. Quieter, roomier and more refined than previous models, the RX 330 introduces several technologically advanced Lexus features.
